Celebrates 150 Years!

The Village of Clayton will turn 150 years old on April 17th, 2022 and will commemorate its incorporation with a historic celebration featuring a symbolic theme relating to our community’s rich history: “150 Years–Where The Tradition Continues.”

This channel was created to share the Hashing over History and History at Noon programs presented by the Thousand Islands Museum and the Town & Village of Clayton Historian. The Hashing over History programs have concluded for the year but History at Noon programs will continue on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Tom French is a 4th-Generation TI Parker, freelance writer, and local amateur historian. His book, River Views -- A History of the 1000 Islands in 3-D won a Silver Medal for Best Regional Non-Fiction in the Northeast in the Independent Publishers Book Awards 2012. His work has been featured in Mac|Life, Adirondack Life, North Country Public Radio, ThousandIslandsLife.com, the Watertown Daily Times and other publications. Tom is always willing to share some of what he has learned over the years with us during History at Noon, as with this presentation he gave in 2023 on Thousand Island Park and its history.

This is a converted video that was originally recorded in August of 2003. The Town and Village Historian at the time was Norm Wagner and he gave this History at Noon presentation on Local Cheese Factories in the Clayton NY area. The video is fairly good quality, you may need to tun the volume up, and there is a watermark that pops up due to the free software that was use to convert the video.
